Emmy Awards tahun ini sekali lagi memihak kepada drama bersiri Game Of Thrones dengan 12 kemenangan yang menjadi milik siri tv ini. Kemenangan siri tv Game Of Thrones boleh kata adalah yang paling berjaya sepanjang anugerah Emmy ini.
Tahun ini, anugerah untuk drama bersiri terbaik turut dianugerahkan kepada Game Of Thrones yang mana telah dicalonkan sebanyak 23 kali pada tahun ini dan ini adalah kemenangan kali kedua berturut-turut dalam kategori ini.
Emmy Awards 2016 telah pun berlangsung dengan penuh meriah di Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles dan yang pastinya merupakan satu acara yang penuh kejutan dengan pemenang-pemenang yang dianugerahkan buat pertama kali di majlis tahunan berprestij ini.
Antara momen mengejutkan adalah apabila Tatiana Maslany dinobatkan sebagai aktres siri drama terbaik menerusi Orphan Black dan Rami Malek pula seorang aktor baru memenangi anugerah aktor drama terbaik untuk Mr. Robot yang mengalahkan aktor pilihan ramai yang lain.
Acara Emmy Awards yang ke-68 ini dihoskan oleh Jimmy Kimmel.
